Our Problem, and Our Solution
I’ve been agnostic most of my life. Not atheist, I’ve always felt there has to be more than what’s right in front of us, but was confident that I didn’t know what- I’ve fluttered between depending on my mood, depending on what makes sense based on what’s right in front of me. My earliest years in christianity, then human deism, hedonism, and recently altruistic nihilism.
I like to think I am a somewhat intelligent logic based thinker. So, I thought I knew better. I thought the masses were duped. When someone would talk about their relationship with god I would think to myself “Uh huh, that’s great, I’m glad that works for you.” I thought they didn’t have the fortitude to handle life’s suffering without an invisible man. That they needed eternal life in heaven to be motivated to be good. I was naive.
This week I have seen evil. This week I saw a man who made it his life's work to inspire people of every color and creed to live a happy, healthy, fulfilling life get publicly executed. I was forced to watch blood spill from the neck that spoke truth and meaning to me through my formative years. Tough and important years. He had more life in him and a stronger desire to do real good in him than any of us and he was killed like a dog and the ground surrounding him drank in his goodness instantly. Decades of mentoring, inspiring, leading to come. A force I counted on fighting for me, my children, and my children’s children into old age. The brightest beacon for good I knew. Snuffed out. And now the only people feeling it are those who were already using the light to see.
On September 10th 2025 we caught a flicker of how many of our countrymen are living in the dark. The lost ships don’t feel the loss of the lighthouse. They are so consumed by darkness they don’t feel the absence of the light. We’ve all witnessed it. There is evil all around us. It is not the left, it is not democrats or liberals or communists. It is in those who answer to no higher power than themself. Prolonged absence of a higher moral standard thrusts oneself into the position of judge. We are not the judge. We acknowledge that evildoers will face their ultimate retribution when they meet our maker like the rest of us, so that we don’t seek that retribution ourselves and tarnish our own souls in the process. If we are secular we believe in the concept of karma, and the golden rule. We are not perfect, but at least we know. These are the formerly simple truths that need revival.
For a long time I made the philosophical argument that pure evil doesn’t actually exist in this world because in order for that to be the case the perpetrators motive needs to be purely malicious. For example if you take that argument to its extreme even though Hitler's ideas were clearly evil, he himself was not, as he thought in his heart he was acting on behalf of the greater good. But when someone’s first reaction to seeing blood pour out of someone’s pressurized neck is to throw your hands up in celebration and cheer, what else do you call that?
Those who have been hiding in the dark were illuminated this week. Evil showed itself for us all to see. Vanity. Selfishness. Cruelty. Slander. Cowardice. The complete and utter dehumanization and demonization of a father, husband, and person. Dave Smith put it best, “If we can’t agree on who the good person and who the bad person is here, then what the hell are we ever talking about?”. This was an objective attack on good, and if your perspective of this event was anything but oh my god that’s awful and can’t happen again to anyone ever, before moving on to the next thing on your agenda, you have a little bit of the evil i’m talking about in you.
This evil is not a binary. A person doesn’t have it or not. It is a school of thought, a way of life, a practice— it’s something real and it will fill the cracks in your thinking if you give it space. It is innate, it is easy, and it spreads when we don’t actively work at fighting it off every single day. We can do our best to stave it off in our homes by trying to wake up and do the right thing every day, but when young malleable minds are taken into custody by institutional forces that see youth as pawns— that is when indoctrination begins.
Victory isn’t right over left right now. Victory is a realignment of what is right and wrong, a deeper respect for our fellow man, and a mutual agreement that some things are sacred. There are very real strategic political moves and long term planning that will need to take place throughout the movement/party in the weeks and months and years to come to ensure victory is certain. But, I truly believe in my soul that political gaming is the secondary ingredient in the good’s recipe for success— kill them with kindness.
They want to think you're a bad person. They want their friends and family to think you’re all of the isms' we've heard so much about. They want everyone to hate you and your family and the things you stand for as much as they do. Rise above it so far that they don’t have a leg to stand on. Mobilize for good. Clean up your town/city, offer to help those in need not just with money but with real help, volunteer and get involved in things you consider important, be a friend. Smile. Make someone else smile. Compliment people. Tell them they’re funny. Tell them they’re nice. Turn the other cheek. Engage. In. Conversation. Their misery wants company. Close the door. Victory is certain if we live by this simple three-pronged approach:
-
Keep the Faith
-
Fight for Freedom
-
Remain Unindoctrinated
2 Kings 6:16 – “Do not be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
PS. We will not forget that the most powerful people in the world may have been involved in heinous crimes involving children. We deserve the truth, and we can’t let that be buried. That’s not a red or blue issue, that's a good and evil issue.
